Lucky are the few who are born with perfect teeth. The rest of us either have to settle for our less than perfect grins, or do something about it. We’re here to support you with the latter. Our orthodontic services can help to correct crooked teeth, improper bites and other oral flaws that can affect your appearance. When we’re finished with you, you’ll be ready to flash those pearly whites with confidence.

Braces are a popular orthodontic solution to straighten teeth and correct improper bites. Braces comprised of brackets which are affixed to each individual tooth, and an archwire which connect the brackets. Orthodontic elastic bands are often added to the braces to aid in the movement of specific teeth. After braces have been applied, regular appointments are needed to have the braces adjusted. Braces info for adults

Braces are made up of individual brackets cemented to your teeth, each one accompanied by a wire, which asserts a constant, gentle pressure on your teeth. Traditionally, braces are metal but they are also available in a clear material and “tooth colored” ceramic to improve their aesthetics. Ceramic brackets are for the most part more comfortable than metal braces, but it’s important to note that they can become discolored by drinks such as coffee or wine, as well as by smoking and eating certain foods.

Braces info for children

Braces work ideally with pre-teens and teenagers. Progress is often faster, as the jaw is still growing.

Braces are made up of brackets attached to each tooth with a wire connecting the brackets. Brackets are usually made of metal, ceramic, or a clear synthetic material that is less noticeable.  After the application of the braces, your child will have regular appointments so that the orthodontist can adjust the braces. Elastic bands are also often used with the braces to support the movement and adjustment of specific teeth.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of invisible, removable aligners made with 3-D imaging technology. Aligners are clear and comfortable. Switch them out approximately every 2 weeks.

Why Invisalign?

Aligners are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while using the treatment. They are also comfortable to wear and will not cause abrasions. Also, with no metal or wires, you will need to spend less time in the office getting adjustments.

How does Invisalign work?

You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them as needed to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner set, your teeth will slowly move until they have straightened to their final position. You will visit our office once a month or so to ensure that your treatment is moving along as planned. The total treatment time for Invisalign averages between 9-15 months.

Once your teeth have been correctly aligned, any fixed braces and removable devices will be taken out and discontinued. The orthodontist will now create a custom retainer for you. The retainer ensures that your teeth do not start to shift back to their original positions. You will need to wear your retainer for a specified amount of time each day. During this phase, your jawbone will reform around the newly realigned teeth to fully stabilize them in their correct alignment.

When it comes to children and orthodontics, we often recommend “fixed” orthodontic braces. They cannot be lost, forgotten or removed. This allows for treatment to be completed faster. Removable appliances may also be used. They are less intrusive, and can treat various types of defects.
